This is the landscape commission that I recently finished for my dear friends @jscott.lemen and @lindalemen. I tried to capture my favorite time of year for them, the light coming through the leaves on a perfect, crisp late October day.

This painting is called OLD GROWTH STUMP. I painted this stump many times. It seems like a rocket ship from the past, sort of Planet of the Apes style.
I know, this is not a dog, it’s a landscape! And I’m here in front of Olana, in Hudson, NY, the house built by one of my favorite painters, Frederic Church.
